Legislative Update--July
Stephen Buehrer, Protect Ohio Pensions Legislative Liaison, reports that the Ohio General Assembly remains in recess.
Current legislative calendars for the second half of 2026 show the Ohio Senate scheduled to meet on several session days in September, one day in October, and on a more robust schedule in November. The Ohio House currently does not plan to return to session until November and December. As always, these dates are subject to change.
Protect Ohio Pensions (POP5) will continue to monitor activity in the General Assembly and keep you informed of any developments affecting Ohio's public pension systems.
Election Season Reminder
Throughout the summer, candidates will be hosting and attending public events to discuss policy issues and introduce themselves to voters. If you have the opportunity to meet a candidate, take a moment to let them know how important Ohio's public pension systems are to you.
If you speak with a candidate about Ohio's pension systems, please let us know by emailing us at popoffice@pop5.org. Include the candidate's name, the date of the encounter, and any relevant details so we can track these conversations across the state.
